We phoned 10 places with no rooms or lack of customer service on the phone. But when we found the number for this place the first contact was great! We did not intended to stop over just a series of events made us. When we arrived the landlady made us feel so welcome and put some stuff together for us. She put her self out to make our day end so amazingley. The food in the pub was some of the best food ever. And breakfast was sooooo good the view was just fantastic. And bed was perfect. Thank you for turning our weekend around.

I had forgotten just how good a meal in a country pub could be. Having tired of modern eateries in Milton Keynes we ventured outside and were so glad we did. Pub was charming, food was fantastic - big portions, good quality food and everything tasted delicious - chef got a round of applause from whole dining area at end of evening. Will definitely return and hope others get to appreciate the same enjoyment that we did - thank you to everyone at the shoulder of mutton!!

Would recommend this B&B me and my wife stopped here for the F1 weekend . The rooms are cosy and clean. The staff made our stay here really enjoyable ,the pub and restaurant was a welcoming and friendly place to eat and drink. All staff couldn't do enough for us for example they cooked our breakfast to order at the time we asked for it A++++++++++.

Our second stay at the shoulder, a lovely country pub in a very quiet setting. Excellent food reasonably priced served by friendly staff. Rooms good value and spotlessly clean. Good value thoroughly recommended.

Lovely rural independently owned village pub. Nice decor inside, plenty of outdoor seating, peaceful and great views. Friendly service, whether you are just popping in for an excellent cup of coffee or a swift half. Today we enjoyed a very pleasant lunch indeed and very reasonably priced. The dishes ( a vegetable lasagne and a traditional ploughmans) were everything you would expect, and very generous portions too. The vegetable lasagne was one of the best I've had with lots of yummy melting cheese. Delicious.Thoroughly recommended, and so great to be able to support a pub that isn't owned by a big chain and that has a bit of character. The Shoulder of Mutton also does Bed and Breakfast.
